Italian Beef Sandwich

Classic Italian beef sandwich filled with Original Philly® Sliced Flat Steak, provolone cheese, and giardiniera served on an Italian bread roll drizzled with roasted garlic aioli and served with a side of Italian beef au jus.

Italian Beef Au Jus Ingredients

2 Tbsp.Butter, Unsalted, Softened 
1 1/2 tsp.Spice, Salt, Celery (Commercially Available)
1 1/2 tsp.Pepper, Black, Ground 
1 tsp. Spice, Pepper, Red, Flakes 
1 1/2 tsp.Spice, Garlic, Powder 
 1 tsp. Spice, Coriander, Whole
1 1/2 tsp. Spice, Fennel, Whole 
1 1/2 tsp. Spice, Paprika, Smoked, Ground 
 1 1/2 tsp. Spice, Basil, Dried
1 1/2 tsp. Spice, Oregano, Dried 
1 1/2 tsp. Spice, Thyme, Dried 
1 1/2 tsp. Spice, Rosemary, Dried

Directions

Italian Beef Directions

Step 1. Preheat a flat top grill to 350°F

Step 2. Place oil and Original Philly® Sliced Flat Steak onto the preheated flat top grill.

Step 3. After the portion has cooked through about half its thickness, approximately 1-2 minutes, flip the portion once.

Step 4. As the meat slices begin to cook, separate them with a spatula and add salt and pepper.

Step 5. Continue to cook the meat another 1-3 minutes, meat should have firm, cooked appearance.

Step 6. Cook to an internal temperature of 165°F as measured using a meat thermometer.

Step 7. Remove cooked steak from flat-top grill and place it into prepared Italian beef au jus and reserve warm.

Step 8. Place Italian bread roll onto a clean worksurface. 

Step 9. Spread roasted garlic aioli onto one side of the Italian bread roll.

Italian Beef Au Jus Directions

Step 1. Pre-heat a pot over medium high heat.

Step 2. Add butter, and allow to melt, add all of the spices (except the bay leaves) to the butter and whisk to combine. Allow the spices to develop the aromatics for 1-2 minutes.

Step 3. Turn the heat back on to medium low. Add the fresh, roughly chopped garlic and allow it to cook in the spicy butter mixture for 1-2 minutes.

Step 4. Pour in the stock then add in the bay leaves.

Step 5. Bring the stock mixture up to a simmer then remove the pan from the heat.
