Tikka Masala Burger Recipe

Grilled beef patty on a whole wheat bun with a spicy tomato tikka masala sauce and a cool mint yogurt sauce.

Tikka Masala Sauce

AMOUNTMAIN INGREDIENTS
2 CupsTomato - Canned Diced
1 CupCoconut Milk
1 CupOnion - Fresh Small Diced
1/4 CupGarlic - Fresh Minced
2 Tbsp.Canola - Or A Neutral Cooking Oil
2 Tbsp.Tomato Paste
1 tsp.Curry Powder
1 Tbsp.Cumin - Ground
1 tsp.Ginger - Powder
1/2 tsp.Cinnamon - Powder
1 tsp.Cayenne - Powder

Mint Yogurt

AMOUNTMAIN INGREDIENTS
1 CupGreek Yogurt - Nonfat Plain
1/4 CupLemon Juice
1/4 CupMint - Fresh & Chopped
Directions

Step 1: Preheat convection oven to 350°F.

Step 2: On a parchment lined sheet tray, lay burger patties flat in a single layer and cook from frozen. Bake for 11-12 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165°F.

Step 3: Hold hot for hot service.

 

To Build Burger:

Step 1: Open buns and spread 1 Tbsp. Tikka Masala Sauce on bottom bun.

Step 2: Top sauce with 1 oz. of shredded romaine.

Step 3: Place hot burger patty on top of lettuce.

Tikka Masala Sauce

Step 1: In a sauce pot over medium heat add canola, garlic, and onion. Cook until translucent. Add the diced tomato, coconut milk and bring to a simmer. Whisk in tomato paste and spices. Simmer for 15-20 minutes. Sauce should be thick like a gravy or marinara sauce. Chill and hold cold for service.

Mint Yogurt

Step 1: In a small bowl mix yogurt, lemon juice, and mint.  Cover and hold under refrigeration until ready to build burgers.
