Korean Hot Dog Recipe

The Korean Dog has become a craze in Korea and a doggone popular street food. It brings together three favorites. Snappy Hillshire Farm® Cheddarwurst® Sausage Links and Wright® Brand Applewood Smoked Sliced Bacon all encased in a crispy deep-fried batter.

Ingredients

1 ea.Hillshire Farm® Cheddarwurst® Sausage Links
1 ea.Wright® Brand Applewood Smoked Sliced Bacon
1 ea.Provolone Cheese, Slice
1/2 cupPanko Breadcrumbs

Batter

YIELD: 1 1/2 CUPS

AMOUNT MAIN INGREDIENTS
7/8 cupRice Flour
1/2 cup + 2 Tbsp.Water, warm
1 Tbsp.Yeast
1 Tbsp.Sugar
1/4 tsp.Salt
Directions

Step 1: Using a rolling pin, roll/stretch the bacon to about 18” in length.

Step 2: Roll a slice of provolone around the Hillshire Farm® Cheddarwurst® Sausage Link.  

Step 3: Roll the Wright® Brand Applewood Smoked Sliced Bacon around the cheese-wrapped link and secure the raw bacon in place with toothpicks.

Step 4: Par fry the bacon-wrapped dog to render/set bacon. Cool prior to next step.

Step 5: Insert a 12” skewer three-quarters of the way into the dog.

Step 6: Pre-heat fryer to 350F.

Step 7: Roll bacon-wrapped dog in batter, then dip in panko before frying..

Step 8: Fry for 6-8 minutes or until internal temp reaches 145F.

Step 9: Serve hot garnished with mustard or ketchup.
