French Onion Steak Pizza Recipe

The French Onion Pizza features a pizza crust topped with a creamy roasted beef sauce, Steak-EZE® Fully Cooked Sliced Steak, a blend of Swiss & mozzarella cheese, caramelized onions, and sprinkled with French fried onions and cracked black pepper.

Creamy Caramelized Onion & Beef Sauce

3 ozWater, hot
2 cupsWhite Garlic Pizza Sauce, (Commercially Available)

Caramelized Onions

SERVING SIZE: 6 Oz.

1 TbspOlive Oil
½ TbspButter, salted
2 eachYellow Onion, medium. Peeled & Sliced ¼ inch
1 tspSalt
½ tspBlack Pepper, fresh cracked
2 TbspSherry

 

Directions

Step 1: Pre-heat impinger oven to 450°F.

Step 2: Cover pizza dough tightly and slack in cooler prior to use.

Step 3: Remove pizza dough from cooler and place onto a clean worksurface.

Step 4: Spread creamy beef sauce evenly over crust.

Step 5: Top with shredded Swiss and mozzarella cheese.

Step 6: Steak-EZE® Fully Cooked Sliced Steak, evenly around entire pizza.

Step 7: Sprinkle caramelized onions over the entire pizza.

Step 8: Place prepared pizza onto a pizza screen and place it into the impinger oven.

Step 9: Cook for approximately 4 minutes.

Step 10: Remove from oven and garnish pizza with crispy fried onions and chives.

Step 11: Using a peppermill, crack fresh pepper over the entire pizza.

Step 12: Serve as needed.

Sub Recipe Directions

Creamy Caramelized Onion & Beef Sauce

Step 1: Place Add the beef and onion concentrates to the hot water and stir to dissolve. Set aside to cool.

Step 2: Blend the white garlic pizza sauce and sour cream together into a mixing bowl.

Step 3: Add the cooled beef and onion liquid to the pizza sauce and sour cream mixture, blend all ingredients together.

Step 4: Refrigerate and use as needed.

 

Caramelized Onions

Step 1: Heat the oil and butter in a 10-inch sauté pan over medium heat. Add the onions and sauté for 5 minutes or until starting to soften.

Step 2: Add the salt and pepper, reduce the heat to medium low and cook for 30 to 40 minutes, stirring every few minutes, or until the onions are very soft, golden brown, and caramelized. The timing will depend on the size of your onions and the heat of your stove.

Step 3: Add sherry and bring to a simmer, scraping up any browned bits. Cook until alcohol smell is mostly gone, about 3 minutes.

Step 4: Spread the caramelized onions on a sheet pan or plate and let cool.
