Cheesesteak Stromboli Recipe

When their heart says cheesesteak, but the belly's pushing for pizza…presto! Treat your customers to one of the most magical food mashups ever created.  Original Philly® Flat Steak tucked into a piping hot dough pocket with melted mozzarella and zesty red sauce.

Ingredients

AMOUNTMAIN INGREDIENTS
8 oz.Original Philly® Beef Sandwich Slices 8 oz.
1 cupShredded Mozzarella
2 Tbsp.Olive Oil
As NeededKosher salt and black pepper
1 TBSP.Italian Seasoning
1 TSPChili Flakes - Optional
1 ea.Yellow Onion - Sliced
1 ea.Green Pepper - Sliced
2 ea.Garlic Cloves, Minced
1 lb.Pizza Dough ball
1 cupMarinara Sauce - More For Dipping
1 ea.egg, beaten for egg wash
Directions

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 425° F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2: In a large pan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high and cook Original Philly® Flat Steak, about 1-2 minutes per side, then using a spatula, separate into strips and pieces.

Step 3: In the same pan, add the onion, pepper, and garlic then season with a pinch of salt, black pepper, chili flakes and Italian seasoning. Cook until onions are slightly translucent, about 3 minutes.

Step 4: On a lightly floured work surface, roll the pizza dough to a 10x14 inch rectangle. Once the dough is rolled out, sprinkle half the cheese, leaving a two inch border on each side.

Step 5: Top with steak mixture, followed by a layer of marinara sauce, and finish with the rest of the cheese.

Step 6: Brush the border with egg wash and fold the bottom and top edges over the filling, then fold the sides over twice, one inch at a time, pinching to seal.

Step 7: Transfer to the baking sheet, seam side down and brush stromboli with the remaining egg wash.

Step 8: Bake until firm and golden brown, about 15 minutes.

Step 9: Cut into 6 portions

Step 10: Serve immediately with marinara sauce.
